Welcome to Hands of Faith Quilting: Meet Nancy

Hello, and welcome! I’m Nancy, the person behind Hands of Faith Quilting in Cherokee, Iowa. Whether you’ve trusted me with a quilt, follow along on social media, or are stopping by for the first time, I’m glad you’re here.

I wanted to begin this blog by introducing myself and giving you a little peek at what you’ll find here. Quilting gives us plenty to talk about: the fabric we couldn’t leave at the shop, the projects waiting patiently for their turn, and the pleasure of seeing a finished quilt put to use.

A fellow quilter, with projects of my own

If you have fabric waiting for just the right project, we already have something in common. After years of collecting fabrics that didn’t yet have a project, I’ve only recently begun making more of an effort to choose fabric with a particular project in mind. I’m learning right along with you!

That’s the spirit I want to bring to this blog. There is always something to learn, something to try, and usually something we can laugh about together. You don’t have to have every technique mastered or every project finished to join the conversation.

How I can help with your quilt

At Hands of Faith Quilting, I offer edge-to-edge longarm quilting, binding, and custom embroidered quilt labels.

If you’re new to the term, edge-to-edge quilting uses a repeating quilting design across the quilt. It adds texture and holds the quilt layers together, helping turn a pieced top into a quilt that’s ready for its finishing touches.

Some quilters love piecing and would happily leave the quilting or binding to someone else. Others want help getting a special project across the finish line. Wherever you are in that process, you’re welcome to reach out and ask questions.

I know there is time and care in the quilt you bring me. Whether it’s your first quilt or one of many, I appreciate the opportunity to help finish it.

What you’ll find here

Over the coming weeks, I’ll share ideas for enjoying quilts around your home, photographing your work, and making a quilt gift feel extra special. We’ll also talk about those moments when a handmade gift takes a little longer than we hoped!

As we move into the new year, there will be practical quilting tips, explanations of techniques and materials, and encouragement for working through the projects you want to finish.

My aim is to make these posts useful and easy to follow. Sometimes you may find an idea you can use right away. Other times, you may simply enjoy a few minutes of quilting conversation.

Let’s get acquainted

I’d love to hear a little about you, too. Are you brand-new to quilting, coming back after a break, or someone who always has a project under the needle?

And what do you most enjoy making—bed quilts, lap quilts, baby quilts, table runners, or something else entirely?

Leave a comment and introduce yourself. If there’s a quilting question you’d like me to cover in a future post, you can share that, too.

Thank you for being here at the beginning of this blog. I’m looking forward to sharing more from my quilting room with you.
