Loves Me Loves Me Not

I love the stories behind a quilt. I bought a quilt pattern called Lemon Meringue from Coriander Quilts a few years ago. I thought it was pretty but didn't have a plan for it . . . yet. You all know what I'm talking about. Sometime later, my mother-in-law was cleaning out her closet, and she had a bag of leftover fabric from the dress she had custom-made for our wedding. This was 35 years ago! And out of her three sons, ours was the only wedding where she had a custom-made dress. (feeling a bit special). Now I had a plan for the pattern.
I picked up some blues, peaches, and light gray backgrounds that coordinated with the colors in the print. These were also the colors in our wedding, so I decided to call it our anniversary quilt.

It took me well over a year to put it together because, as you all know, there are so many projects and never enough time. I barely had enough of the flower print fabric to make this quilt. There is nothing left of this print now. I finally finished it this past month. I backed it with a wide 108"blue backing and bound it with the same fabric. I also used a Superior Threads Omni in the color Boy Blue for the thread.

I used the longarm quilting pattern Loves Me, Loves Me Not. It is beautiful and fits the story behind the quilt. It quilted out beautifully and smoothly with no issues. There was no need for offsets or adjustments; the pattern adjusted perfectly to the quilt's dimensions. I did fewer repeats than the original setup because I did not want it to be overquilted. However, I think it would have turned out just as lovely. I love it when that happens!
Christy Dillon designed the longarm quilt pattern at My Creative Stitches.

The quilt top pattern itself was interesting. The blocks are all made the same, but depending on which colors and prints you use in various parts of the block, they look like entirely different blocks. This made it both fun and challenging. It was also helpful when the amount of flower print was limited. Oddly enough, when I look at the pattern envelope, I realize I have the panel blocks for this quilt in my fabric stash. That is entirely coincidental, by the way. Such is the life of a quilter.
At any rate, I am pleased with the project and am happy it is finally done. If you love the quilt pattern and have a project that needs quilting, I would be honored to do it. To book your quilt for longarm quilting, click on the button below. It will take you to my booking form in Google Forms.
